(ITCHING IN EXTERNAL GENITAL ORGANS)

Itching in the vagina and vulva can usually be accompanied by vaginal discharge, in some cases

in some cases, itching may occur without discharge.

Especially in women of reproductive age, there is a clear mucus secretion from the cervical glands and vaginal wall. The amount of this mucus produced constantly changes depending on the hormone levels secreted depending on the menstrual days. Cervical mucus changes color to white or yellow when it comes into contact with air. The amount of cervical mucus increases during sexual intercourse, during ovulation and during pregnancy. Various genital infections can cause changes in the color and amount of discharge

, bad odor and itching.

Causes of Itching in Genital Organs

Vaginal fungal infections: Cheese, milk curds. It causes itchy discharge in the vagina and vulva

Bacterial vaginosis: Bacterial vaginosis: It causes a creamy, foul-smelling discharge as a result of excessive growth of bacteria that are not sexually transmitted and live in the normal vagina under inappropriate conditions.

It causes itching and

irritating discharge in the genital organs.

Sexually transmitted diseases such as tricomonas, chlamydia, and gonorrhea cause discharge and excessive

itching. may occur.

Detergents, sprays, creams, gels and contraceptive foams used for cleaning the genital area

They cause irritation and itching in the vagina and vulva.

Using vaginal tampons. and leaving it in the vagina for a long time may cause bad odor and itching

Decrease in estrogen levels during menopause (atrophic vagina) may cause narrowness in the vagina,

dryness, irritation and itching.

Rarely, genital cancers are the cause of itching.

Dermatological diseases such as warts and lichen planus caused by HPV in the external genital organs are also the cause of genital itching.

Precautions for Genital Itching.

The genital area should always be kept clean and dry.

Vaginal spray and powder are very dangerous. Cotton underwear should always be worn, synthetic items should never be used.

Toilet cleaning should always be from front to back. In the bathroom, the genital area is placed in a suitable place. p>

It should be thoroughly cleaned.

Vaginal douche should be avoided. Because vaginal douche eliminates the flora

bacteria present in the vagina. However, these bacteria protect the body against vaginal infections. Blood

sugar should also always be kept under control. If blood sugar increases, vaginal infections (especially

vaginal fungal infection) increase.

When vaginal infection is suspected, firstly, by examination; If necessary, vaginal

culture and cervicovaginal smear test are performed, or in persistent infections, samples are taken from the vagina to detect HPV DNA and the causative agent of sexually transmitted diseases

and PCR method

After a definitive diagnosis is made, it is possible to get rid of this infection and the itching it causes by performing appropriate treatments. Vaginal tampons

should never be used while vaginal infection continues. To prevent the spread of infections, a condom should be used during sexual intercourse, if necessary.
