Sleep and Sleep Disorders

Sleep is a dynamic process that varies greatly in terms of its qualitative and quantitative characteristics in healthy people, is regular, repetitive and easily reversible. This repeated periodic state is called 'circadian rhythm'. A sleep cycle; It is the sleep period consisting of NREM (Non-Rapid Eye Movement) and a subsequent REM (Rapid Eye Movement). During the neonatal period, REM and NREM occur for equal durations in children (50% REM / 50% NREM). Towards adulthood, REM decreases and NREM duration increases (25% REM / 75% NREM).
