What is Glaucoma?

It is an insidious disease, known as glaucoma, in which intraocular pressure puts pressure on the optic nerve, damaging it, and as a result of the damage, the person's visual field gradually narrows. It is EARLY DIAGNOSIS that is of vital importance.

What are the Symptoms of Glaucoma?
*Blurry vision, although not frequent
*Flash of light that feels like lightning
*Narrowing in the visual field

Who Gets Glaucoma?

*High myopia-hyperopia patients
*Patients using cortisone for a long time
*Diabetes and goiter patients
*Migraine patients

How is Glaucoma Diagnosed?

*EARLY DIAGNOSIS is very important in glaucoma as the disease does not cause any symptoms and the resulting vision loss cannot be reversed.
*Determination of visual acuity
*Intraocular pressure, i.e. measurement of eye pressure
*Control of the area where the channels through which the intraocular fluid discharges are located
*Computerized visual field
*Ocular nerve analysis examinations (OCT: Optical Coherence Tomography)

Glaucoma Treatment

*Medication Treatment: Eye pressure is reduced by reducing the production of fluid in the eye or increasing the output of this fluid. These drugs are medications that should be used throughout life, taken at certain intervals throughout the day.

*Surgical Treatment: In order to facilitate the flow of the fluid, which is forced out of the eye and whose pressure increases, a kind of drainage channel is created in the white layer of the eye, under the upper lid, in a way that cannot be seen. After surgery, eye pressure usually disappears.

*Laser Treatment: The first stage of laser treatment is used to prevent the other eye from going into glaucoma crisis. The application point varies depending on the type of eye pressure the patient has.
