Nasal polyps are flesh tissues arising from the sinus cavities and nasal passages. These meats hang from the sinus cavities into the nose, just like a bunch of grapes. It is not known exactly what causes polyps. However, it is more common in people with allergies. Complaints of nasal congestion, runny nose and inability to smell are prominent in patients. Recurrent sinusitis attacks are observed in these patients.
HOW ARE NAZAL POLYPS TREATED?
The most effective way to treat nasal polyps is the long-term use of cortisone sprays. Sometimes cortisone can also be used orally or by injection. If the patient has signs of acute infection, antibiotic use may be required. If there is no improvement despite drug treatment, polyps must be removed with endoscopic sinus surgery. However, patients must also use cortisone sprays after surgery. It is not uncommon for the disease to recur after surgery.
