Prominent Ear Surgery
Prominent ear surgery; It is an operation that allows the ear to come closer to the head through procedures performed on the cartilage tissue through an incision behind the ear, under general anesthesia in children and under local anesthesia in adults, and takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. We use sports tape surrounding the ears after the surgery. It is used day and night for 2 weeks, and only at night for the next 2 weeks.
Post-Operative Pain
In the 3 days after the surgery, there is a moderate pain due to swelling in the ears. you can feel it. In the following days, the pain gradually eases. Pain is not an expected situation after the first week.
Post-Surgery Recovery
You will be discharged on the same day after the surgery. Bathing is allowed after 3 days. The area behind the ear where stitches were applied is dressed regularly for 2 weeks. The stitches behind the ear will dissolve on their own after about 1 month. The swelling in the ear disappears completely after the 2nd week. Controls; It is performed on the 3rd day, 2nd week and 1st month.
Post-Surgery Scars
The incision made in prominent ear surgery; It cannot be seen from the outside because it will remain in the groove behind the ear. Since the skin behind the ear is very thin, it is one of the areas that leaves the least scars. It will become almost invisible in about the 6th month.
Things to Pay Attention to After the Surgery
- It will be enough to rest at home for about 3 days.
- We recommend the athlete's tape. It is necessary to wear it for a short time to prevent the ears from being opened again.
- Described. The dressing should not be interrupted.
- Folding and twisting movements of the ear should be avoided for approximately 2 months.
Side Effects That May Occur After Surgery
Blood Accumulation (hematoma) : It is detected early. It can be prevented with a short intervention.
Opening the Stitches: If the athlete's tape is not used, the stitches on the ears can be opened. In this case, intervention is required by your doctor.
Infection: It occurs when the antibiotics prescribed by your doctor are not used and the dressing is neglected. Care should be taken.
