Intrauterine Inflammation (Endometritis)

Inflammation of the lining of the uterus is not a common condition. Usually, there is no infection without an underlying factor because the intrauterine layer; It is naturally resistant to infection with the acidic Ph of the vagina, cervical secretions and the layer that is shed and renewed every month. If there is a problem with one of these natural barriers, an infection develops. Endometritis may occur in cases such as childbirth, miscarriage, premature rupture of membranes, intrauterine operations, spirals, cancer, presence of polyps.

How is endometritis divided?

Chronic endometritis: The patient does not have any complaints. It may occur when it is noticed during the control of the gynecologist. In addition, the patient may complain of ongoing discomfort and mild pain in the groin. Sometimes it manifests itself with intermenstrual bleeding after menstruation. Chronic endometritis rarely leads to infertility. Diagnosis is made by endometrial biopsy. It is treated with appropriate antibiotics.
Acute endometritis: There is hypersensitivity in the uterus. It may be accompanied by inflammation of the tubes. Acute endometritis caused by Chlamydia and Gonorrhea should not be forgotten and the treatment of the patient should be done by considering these two agents.
