Nutrition Soup

NUTRITION SUGGESTIONS DO YOU DRINK SOUP?

I found it appropriate to put such a title when starting our column. Nutrition is a topic that concerns us all and is the most popular topic in recent years. Almost everyone has something to say about this. Now I want you to ask yourself this.

This food is good for heart health, that plant is bad for cancer. Looks like this mixture is good for the liver. While countless information storms continue to blow on television and newspapers, we can say that, as an ordinary citizen, we are confused about what to believe. I liken it to some kind of soup. Nutritional recommendations soup.

These are just as important as the advice given. A nutritional prescription that is not implemented properly has no meaning other than a conversation between friends that flies into the air.

Now let's get to the important topic. How scientifically accurate are these nutritional recommendations? Answering this question is really difficult and requires effort. Take fish oil for example. Fish oil, that is, omega-3 fatty acids, is an important nutrient that has been shown to have various benefits. But are these benefits sufficient to treat a disease? Or is it part of a healthy lifestyle that must be followed to maintain general health? This is where the real distinction begins. Because fish oil is useful, but it cannot treat an intestinal infection on its own. No study has managed to show such a strong effect. My perspective on healthy eating is based on giving realistic, rather than dreamy, scientific suggestions rather than sounding pleasant ones. I do not find the opposite correct and even see it as open to abuse. Therefore, in our first article, I would like to introduce you to a nutritional element with strong scientific evidence.

The miracle spice curcumin (curry)

Curcumin, turmeric (Indian in the plant known as saffron n is the active ingredient obtained. The reason why I specifically included this in our first article is that countless scientific articles have been published about it in recent years. Curcumin is a substance that was reported to be especially protective against Alzheimer's disease in studies conducted in the 2000s. In India, where active curcumin (curry) powder is consumed, Alzheimer's disease is seen in less than 1%. But the most impressive thing about curcumin is its anti-cancer effect. Studies from the Cork Institute in Ireland have shown that it begins to kill esophageal cancer cells in the first 24 hours. It reduces the harmful substances of cigarettes that cause lung cancer in the body. It slows down the growth of tumor cells in breast cancer. It has a positive effect on skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma). It has been shown to significantly shrink the cancerous area, especially when applied directly to the wound in the form of ointment. The study that impressed me the most was published by Kyoto University, Japan. Pancreatic cancer is among the most lethal cancers.
