Newborn Follow-up

Babies are cared for by the relevant baby nurse from the moment they are first born.

Eye, ear and belly care is provided. Following this, vitamin K vaccination and Hepatitis B vaccinations are administered without delay. From birth, the baby is given breast milk for 2 days. Heel blood is taken from the baby. All genetic disease screening tests of the baby are performed.

After birth, the pediatrician wants to make the first check of the baby on the 5th day.

The pediatrician gives some care recommendations to the family.

For example, unlike in previous years, iodine or alcohol care is not used to care for the baby's umbilical cord, and the umbilical cord is expected to fall off on its own. Vitamin D is started to be given to the baby every day.

This kind of information is explained to the parents in detail by the pediatrician.

Some newborn babies may encounter jaundice problems independent of blood incompatibility. Since the baby's values will reach their highest levels on the 5th day after birth, the first check is made on the 5th day. During this check-up, it is normal to experience a weight loss of up to 10% of the birth weight.

Following checks are carried out routinely, such as 1st month examination, hip ultrasound, and eye examination. The 2nd dose of Hepatitis B vaccine is administered. After the baby reaches the 2nd month, the routine vaccination schedule continues. Rotavirus vaccine is also recommended orally at 3 and 5 months. When the baby reaches the age of 2, vaccination procedures are completed.

During the newborn follow-up process, the doctor, who is a specialist in pediatrics and diseases, checks the weight (weight), height and head circumference of the newly born baby. It measures and examines whether there is any problem in the baby.

It also checks the newborn baby's fontanelle, heartbeat, breathing pattern, 5 sense organs, legs, arms, hands and feet.

Healthy. Baby observation generally continues from the moment the baby is born until the baby turns 1 year old.

Newborn follow-up is an extremely important issue in terms of baby health.
