These days, bacteria called beta (group A beta streptococcus) that cause infection in the throat cause a rash along with pharyngitis, especially in school-going children, which we call scarlet fever. 1-2 days after contact with a sick person, fever, sore throat, first whitening and then redness of the tongue, vomiting, abdominal pain, and a rash on the body that may be itchy appear. It is one of the few diseases with a rash that requires detectable antibiotic treatment. 10 days of treatment is required. Disease symptoms may last 7-10 days. It is no longer contagious after 24 hours of antibiotic treatment. After the treatment, peeling may occur on the hands and feet. If left untreated, the disease may cause joint-heart rheumatism and kidney inflammation (nephritis) after 10-15 days. A person may experience scarlet fever five times in their lifetime.
