I WANT A BEAUTIFUL AND NATURAL NOSE
Beauty is a relative concept. Depends on person. What one of us likes, the other may not like. So which one is correct? Both are correct. There is a nice saying “Tastes and colors are indisputable.” A question we ask every person who wants to have rhinoplasty: "What kind of nose do you want?" The common answer for all of them is: "I want a beautiful and natural nose." This is where the problem begins: What does a beautiful nose mean, what does a natural nose mean? Every nose that each of my patients calls beautiful in their own way, that does not seem exaggerated to them, and that they wish would have a significant change in their own way, is a natural nose. We show the post-operative nose photographs of our patients to whom we have previously performed rhinoplasty and ask: "Which nose looks more natural to you?" The answers vary so much that one person says, "Oh, that's so natural!" while another says, "It's so exaggerated!" can say. Because everyone's understanding of beauty and naturalness differs.
SCORING IN RHINOplasty
The primary purpose of interviewing patients is to measure the patients' understanding of beauty. Scoring method can be applied for this. Thanks to this scoring, we show the patient what kind of nose he/she will have after the surgery.
CAN I SEE MY NOSE AFTER THE SURGERY WITH PHOTOSHOP?
Sometimes, patients hold a beautiful piece that belongs to someone else. come with a picture of a nose and say "I want a nose like that!" they say. Is this possible? Unfortunately, it is not possible to have an exact replica. Because some lines that provide facial aesthetics (between the eyebrows, distance between both cheekbones, eyebrow-nose tip line, etc.) constitute the facial analysis. And since these lines are different for everyone, we cut out a beautiful nose in the picture and make the nose on your face. When you glue it on, a very different nose may appear that we do not like. Another wrong practice is to change the shape of our patients' noses, either 3D or 2D, before the surgery, and then tell the patients that they will look exactly like this after the surgery. It is never possible to recreate the same image change after surgery. Because there are many factors that make the nose shape look beautiful after surgery. Many factors such as nasal skin thickness, subcutaneous fat tissue, structure of nasal cartilages, amount of curvature of the cartilage forming the roof of the nose, angle between cartilage and bone structure vary from person to person, and all of these factors affect the outcome of the surgery. Unfortunately, it is not possible to detect all of these before the surgery.
IS IT TOTALLY WRONG TO PERFORM NOSE CORRECTION WITH PHOTOSHOP?
No, it is not completely wrong. Even if it is not the same as the pictures shown (maybe it will be more beautiful), it is important to understand what kind of nose aesthetics the person wants (what does a beautiful nose mean).
IS THE INTERVIEW BEFORE THE SURGERY IMPORTANT?
Pre-operative consultation constitutes the most important part of rhinoplasty surgery. It is very important to learn our patients' expectations, perform facial analysis, explain what may be encountered after surgery, and determine whether there is another problem in the nose that prevents breathing. First of all, we ask our patients "what part of your nose do you dislike, where are you uncomfortable?" and we note these.
Generally, when patients are viewed from the side;
- Arrowed nose
- Nose tip low nose
- Long nose
When viewed from the front;
- Wide and thick nose
- Complains about crooked nose lar.
By correcting all these problems, we ensure that our patient has a nose that is proportional to the facial lines, suits his face, and is created in accordance with the patient's concept of beauty (except for noses called pig noses).
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE FROM ULTRASOUND IN NOSE AESTHETICS SURGERY?
Surgeries are performed under general or local anesthesia. Although both techniques are used, open and closed, the open technique is mostly used. Contrary to popular belief, in open surgery most of the incisions are made from the inside, only a very small incision is made from the lower part of the nose tip. Since most of the incision is made inside the nose, it is not visible from the outside. The bridge of the nose and nasal bones are generally shaped by grinding and breaking them with rasps and chisels.
WHAT ARE THE PRICES OF NOSE AESTHETICS SURGERY?
The most frequently asked question is how much the surgery costs? Surgery prices vary depending on the hospital where the surgery will be performed and whether the nose surgery is a first or second surgery. A high price of surgery does not mean that the doctor is good, and a low price (in public hospitals and university hospitals) does not mean that it is bad. A rhinoplasty surgery performed by a doctor who is very famous on social media and receives a high fee is compared to a rhinoplasty surgery performed by a doctor who performs free rhinoplasty surgery in a state hospital. It can be worse than the nose. Moreover, it is not the case that every rhinoplasty performed by the doctor will be good. No doctor would show off his bad nose on social media.
