To whom is Prolotherapy not applicable?

Prolotherapy is not applied in the following cases:

  • It is not applied in cases of pain originating from internal organs. Because prolotherapy is only effective in pain caused by the movement system. For example, it will not be beneficial for people who suffer from back pain due to bladder, uterus, prostate or bowel problems.

  • It is not applied to people who are undergoing cancer treatment. Because such treatments have an inhibitory effect on both wound healing and cell regeneration. Prolotherapy is not applied during the effect of this treatment.

  • It is not applied to those with autoimmune diseases. Because autoimmune diseases, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Systemic Lupus (SLE), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Psoriasis, have a state of excessive and uncontrolled inflammation. For this reason, prolotherapy treatment is not suitable for such patients.

  • It is not applied during acute rheumatic exacerbations. Because during these periods, anti-inflammatory drugs and sometimes cortisone must be used. In this case, prolotherapy is not performed on patients with this condition because it will have a stimulating effect and cause inflammation and therefore no recovery.

  • It is not performed on patients with impaired or suppressed immune systems. Because in cases where the immune system is inadequate, tissue healing is negatively affected and it becomes very difficult to respond to this stimulating treatment.

  • It is not applied to those with inadequate tissue healing due to nutritional deficiency. Because, especially in cases of protein, vitamin and mineral deficiency, the healing responses of all tissues are negatively affected and remain inadequate.

  • It is not applied to patients using systemic cortisone for any reason. Because cortisone has a very strong suppressive effect on inflammation. It will negatively affect treatment performance.

  • It is not applied to people who are unwilling and incompatible with exercise. Because stretching and then strengthening exercises are essential for the softened ligaments after prolotherapy to recover to the optimal position and length.

  • Here, the situations in which prolotherapy treatment is not suitable are outlined. They are listed with . However, a patient-specific suitability assessment must be made.

    Stay healthy.
