Adolescence is a difficult process in which children leave childhood and step into adulthood. During this period, significant changes occur in children both physically (physical change) and spiritually. At the end of this process, children reach mental, spiritual and physical maturity and become adults. The characteristics of our age and the effects of popular culture make it difficult for children to go through the changes specific to adolescence in healthy and normal conditions and may even cause them to encounter problems at different levels. These problems; especially social communication, self-confidence formation, communicating with peers, personality development, taking responsibility, goal setting, etc. In solving adolescence problems, the attitudes of the family and social environments in which children and adolescents live are extremely important. On the other hand, structured Adolescent Interaction Groups organized for adolescents will also contribute greatly to overcoming this process in a healthy way.
Adolescent Interaction Groups; It will provide adolescents with similar adolescent problems the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills such as coping with problems, taking and being a model, receiving feedback about themselves, and establishing empathy by coming together with their peers. In a group environment, adolescents will be able to talk whenever and as much as they want among their peers without being judged, and will show more natural behaviors and reactions as they adapt to the group. This will provide Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with the opportunity to observe adolescents in their natural environment and will contribute to the development of more accurate methods and approaches specific to each adolescent. On the other hand, when necessary, a supportive opportunity will be created in the individual meetings held by Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for adolescents in need.
Adolescent Interaction Groups, on the other hand, have an educational and learning feature. Adolescents also gain the opportunity to develop skills such as social skills, anger management, communication, recognizing and expressing emotions, establishing and maintaining friendships, conflict resolution, problem solving, etc. through the activities carried out in Interaction Groups. Adolescents transfer these gains within the group to outside the group. By taking it to the other side (home, school and other areas of life), it can reconsider their relationships and help them develop positive attitudes and behaviors.
