IN WHICH CASE SHOULD WE REQUEST A SWEAT TEST?
The diagnosis of cystic fibrosis is made by measuring the CHLORINE concentration in sweat.
It should not be forgotten that the sweat test may be positive in some diseases other than cystic fibrosis.
Situations requiring SWEAT TEST in the first 2 years of age
An elevated IRT value in the screening test during the neonatal period
Stopped weight gain in the baby (Growth retardation )
Making copious amounts of greasy, smelly stools
frequently recurring respiratory tract infection ( Bronchiolitis / Bronchitis )
meconium ileus ( In the first days of the newborn baby, the newborn's feces are in the intestines obstruction as a result of its progression) having symptoms of inability to defecate in the first 24-48 hours
signs of meconium peritonitis (perforation of the intestine blocked with feces and the development of an inflammatory condition in the fold)
Edema, protein deficiency, Having symptoms of anemia (anemia), Kwashiorkor dermatitis
