WHAT IS PENile PROSTHESIS (HAPPINESS STICK)?
The last step in the treatment of erectile dysfunction is silicone-based materials, which are permanent and irreversible and are placed surgically into both
hardened tubes (spongy tissue) of the penis.

HISTORY OF PROSTHESIS
Men's search for treatment for erectile dysfunction is as old as human history. Even in the time of Hippocrates, there were efforts to find solutions to erectile dysfunction. The idea of applying a prosthesis inside the penis was first put forward by Bogaras in 1936. In 1966, the method of applying penile prosthesis
was defined and modernized by Beheri. In 1973, the first inflatable pump prosthesis was used. In parallel with technological developments, prosthesis products that are more useful and closer to natural erection are now available.
TO WHOM ARE PROSTHESIS APPLIED?
In the treatment of erectile dysfunction, with today's technological developments, new treatment methods are sought.
continues to increase. However, penile prosthesis applications currently maintain their place as the last treatment option as they offer permanent and definitive treatment
.
In those who fail first and second-line drug treatments
Medicines and applications taken orally or applied to the penis,
People who cannot use it
People who have had nerve and vascular problems of the penis, especially prostate cancer, who have undergone surgery, radiation therapy
People who have cerebrospinal paralysis, neurological diseases
People who have severe curvature of the penis in Peyronie's patients
In people who are looking for a definitive and permanent solution without the need for any medication or procedure
WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF PROSTHESIS?
Types of prosthesis are roughly divided into two as inflatable and bendable. The bendable ones are two independent silicone-based rod prostheses. Inflatable ones, on the other hand, consist of two or three pieces,
interconnected layers containing a pump and a reservoir. This type of prostheses are closest to natural
hardening. In fact, you should decide which prosthesis is suitable for you by talking to your doctor and your spouse
and taking into account your social situation, physical structure, psychological state and whether you have any other diseases. It is necessary to make a decision by considering the penis prosthesis surgery. The surgery is performed with an incision of approximately 2
cm from the area where the penis skin
meets the ovarian skin or where the upper part of the penis meets the lower part of the abdomen. Through this incision, both spongy tissues that enable the erection of the penis are reached and bendable or inflatable cylinder prostheses are placed inside them. If inflatable cylinders
are placed, then an area is prepared behind it at the level of the ovary, and the pump is placed there and the reservoir is placed in the abdominal
area. Following this, the connection of these parts to each other is made.
Generally, a penis prosthesis surgery lasts between 1-1.5 hours.
POST-OPERATIVE CARE
Antibiotics to minimize the risk of post-operative infection. Treatment is continued and the patient is usually discharged after 1 or
2 days. One day later, the urinary catheter placed during the surgery is removed, routine dressing
is performed, and if a pump prosthesis is placed, it is completely deflated and remains deflated for 2 to 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, exercises are started on how to use the prosthesis.
6 weeks after the surgery, sexual intercourse can be started.
Will there be problems for my partner in a relationship with a prosthesis?
The prosthesis and its mechanisms placed inside the penis during the surgery. Since it is inside the skin
it is absolutely unnoticeable from the outside. It does not create an unattractive image for the partner. It may not be understood
even by touching. The man has the advantage of starting sexual intercourse at any time, without any preparation, and ending it whenever he wants
and even continuing sexual intercourse even if he ejaculates or orgasms.
Will my semen come when I have a prosthesis? CAN I HAVE A CHILD?
After the prosthesis is installed, orgasm and ejaculation of semen are possible during sexual intercourse, there is no decrease in the amount of semen, so it is possible to have a child.
AFTER PROSTHESIS SURGERY, THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS WITH URINATION. DO?
Since the part where the prosthesis is placed is placed on the tissues of the penis that provide erection,
independently of the urinary tract, you will not be able to urinate. It does not constitute an obstacle.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR PROSTHESIS?
There is generally no age limit for penis prosthesis surgery, it can be performed in any age group. It can be applied to people of any age, as long as there is no serious risk for surgery and they have sufficient awareness and ability to apply prosthesis.
