If I were asked if there is an issue that closely concerns every living being and whose importance will never decrease, I would undoubtedly say water consumption. Let's take a closer look at water consumption, which has a say in both physiological and psychological health.
The basic functions of water in the body are; We can list many important functions such as carrying nutrients and metabolic wastes, regulating body temperature, being a solvent for vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other molecules.
Even a 1% water loss in the body causes loss of appetite, tension and impatience. It causes effects such as fatigue. As this rate increases, problems such as headache and difficulty breathing begin to occur. We should always think of water as the fuel of the body and keep it at sufficient levels.
Skin health and water consumption: First of all, water plays a big role in maintaining the moisture balance of the skin. Water also plays a role in removing toxins from the body that cause skin problems such as acne.
Concentration and water consumption: 85% of our brain consists of water. When we are dehydrated, our concentration and short-term memory are also affected.
Water and energy: 75% of muscles, 22% of bones and 80% of our blood consist of water. When we cannot consume enough water, our body does not work as it should, fatigue, muscle and joint pain occur, and we experience loss of energy.
Water and digestive system: The first advice given to those who have constipation problems is a fiber diet and sufficient water consumption. Fibers need plenty of water to work in the intestines. When we fulfill the conditions without separating the two, we will achieve results and fulfill an important task for our digestive health.
Water consumption and infections: Water consumption plays a big role, especially in urinary system infections, kidney stones and hypertension management. It cleanses the body by removing toxins and drug residues from the body.
Water and weight management: It is a well-known fact that water helps you lose weight. However, water consumption is not the only issue in this matter. We get the most efficiency when we comply with the rules that need to be taken into consideration in the diet and consume enough water in addition to a healthy and balanced nutrition program.
In a study, we drink half a liter of water before a meal. It was revealed that people who smoke consume 13% fewer calories than they normally consume.
Again, it seems that the feelings of hunger and thirst are confused in people who do not pay attention to sufficient water consumption. When all we need is to drink water, we take in calories we don't need, thinking we are hungry, and this can be reflected as excess weight on the scale.
To summarize all these things I mentioned briefly, we can say that we do not disrupt the functioning of the body, we support our body to function in the best way physiologically and spiritually. To be healthy, let's take care to consume at least 30 ml of water per kg per day (for example, the daily water need for a 70 kg person is 70x30 ml = 2100 ml).
