For this reason, the need for pregnant women to dye their hair for cosmetic reasons is increasing day by day.
However, hair dyeing during pregnancy is a very controversial issue. Scientific data cannot say that hair dyeing during pregnancy is neither safe nor harmful. During hair dyeing, a very small amount of the chemicals are absorbed from the scalp and enter the blood circulation. Although it cannot be proven scientifically, it is thought that these substances may have a negative effect on the unborn baby, especially in the first 3 months of pregnancy. For this reason, if hair is to be dyed, it is useful to wait until the first 3 months of pregnancy have passed.
Sometimes it is seen that herbal hair dyes are recommended for pregnant women. However, it should be known that; Herbal hair dyes also contain one or more synthetic chemicals. Henna has been used in hair dyeing for years and is safe during pregnancy. However, one should not make a mistake at this point. Although pure henna is safe, dyes produced from henna should be avoided.
Pregnant women should pay attention to the following when dyeing their hair;
- Hair after the third month of pregnancy. should be dyed.
- The instructions written on the dye packages should be followed.
- The amount of dye used should be minimum.
- Different dyes should not be mixed.
- Hair dyeing process. It should be done in a well-ventilated place.
- The contact time of the dye with the scalp should be kept as short as possible.
- Gloves should be worn while dyeing.
- After the dyeing process, the scalp is very sensitive. It should be rinsed well.
