Understanding Adolescence

Adolescence is the name of the period that includes rapid physical, emotional, spiritual and social changes. Adolescence is the name of a long, ups and down period that brings storms to the individual. While it passes in different intensities for each individual, it generally covers individuals between the ages of 9-21. The age of onset of puberty in girls is earlier than in boys. Girls can be considered to be in this period from age 11 to 21, rarely 9 years old. Men, on the other hand, can be counted in this period from 13 to 22 years of age, rarely 11 years in males. Although these age ranges are the age ranges that are considered in general, the age of onset and termination of puberty for each individual may vary according to the circumstances. Each age in the period brings with it various characteristics and can lead to changes in the individual.

While adolescence differs from culture to culture, from village to city, according to the attitudes of families and the climate of the geography, individual characteristics play a very important role in shaping adolescence. Adolescence is the last stage before transitioning to adulthood. Every individual experiences this stage in one way or another, the important thing is how the period will be and how it can be spent in a healthy way. Whether this period will be healthy or not is closely related to the individual himself, the conditions of the environment he is in and the attitudes of the environment towards him. This maturation period is the most important period in which the individual shapes his/her future life. Decisions taken during this period usually have an extraordinary impact on the life of the individual from now on. Adolescents have an introverted world and a reflection of this world outside. Sometimes these reflections can create chaos for the adolescent and then for the people around the adolescent, and sometimes they can make the adolescent feel comfortable and understandable.
