Keloid is a raised scar. It reaches larger sizes than scars caused by other causes. Having a scar does not mean that everyone will have a keloid. However, if your skin is sensitive and prone to keloid formation, it may occur even in minor cases. There is a possibility of encountering conditions such as keloids after actions such as ear piercing or tattooing. Keloid color can sometimes be light colored. Sometimes simple keloids may occur. It may take time for keloids to become apparent, and sometimes they may occur long after scar formation. Keloids can grow within months or wounds.
Keloids do not turn into cancer.
Keloids vary in shape and size depending on the point in the body where they arise.
Growing wounds may cause pain and or itching. why could it be. If it grows in the joints, it can cause movement restriction. When keloids that cause distress in the joints are treated, some of the mobility can be regained.
Treatment will help reduce itching and pain. After keloids have been treated, precautionary measures can be taken to prevent recurrence or new keloid formation. Not all keloids can be treated with the same treatment method. Questions such as the location, size and depth of the lesion, the age of the patient, and how the response has been in the past if treatment has been applied, determine the type of treatment used. Therapeutic treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids may include treatments such as occlusive dressing applications, compression therapy, intralesional corticosteroid injection, cryosurgery, excision, radiation treatments, and laser therapy. Some other methods are vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors, phototherapy, transforming growth factor, tumor necrosis factor, epidermal growth factors.
Treatment should be performed by a dermatologist. The physician will determine the treatment method after determining the personal circumstances of the treatment. Since keloid treatment will not be easy, taking precautions against keloids would be a healthier approach.
