Cheek Biting

Dentist Kadir Toktaş said, "Sometimes a poorly made prosthesis hits an area in the mouth and causes trauma to the tissue in that area. Continuation of the trauma can lead to oral cancer." He made an evaluation.

Noting that sharp and pointed teeth usually cause cheek biting, he stated that the inner part of the cheek can get stuck between the teeth when eating something hard or when the teeth are closed quickly.

Other causes of cheek biting often include: Noting that wisdom teeth are one of the factors in the teeth, Toktaş said, "Wisdom teeth generally grow forward or backward in the jaw, and therefore the compression of your cheek between your wisdom tooth and other teeth increases. Other causes of cheek biting include stress, external grinding, "Defects in the jaw structure and muscle disorders can be counted." He said.

Toktaş stated that when cheek biting becomes continuous, it can cause damage to the soft tissue in the cheek and wounds that do not close due to infection, and that these wounds can make it difficult to eat or drink.

"Therefore, if you are constantly faced with cheek biting, you need to consult your doctor and get help as soon as possible. The treatment procedure usually requires filing or extraction of wisdom teeth." Warning, Toktaş made the following evaluations:

"Sometimes a poorly made prosthesis hits an area in the mouth and causes trauma to the tissue in that area. Sometimes it can cause 20' pain in different directions." Small teeth cause us to bite our cheek. Continuation of the trauma can also lead to oral cancer. Oral cancer is a very dangerous disease. If there is a cheek bite and the child constantly bites his tongue, the groundwork for oral cancer is prepared. That tissue can turn into cancerous cells over time. This type of cancer usually occurs in adulthood. However, recently, this disorder has become more common, especially in children, due to reasons such as poor oral hygiene, wisdom teeth erupting in different directions, orthodontic problems, cheek and tongue bites.

Oral examination is very good in detecting the disease. It needs to be done. If a finding is found in the mouth, a pathological examination should be performed. Blood circulation in the head and neck area is very fast. Cancer spreads very quickly through the lymph nodes and bloodstream. This cancer is also very difficult to treat. Wisdom teeth and all teeth in the mouth should be evaluated with the same care."
