Coping with Coronaphobia

You may feel differently depending on how the coronavirus (Covid-19) affects you. Some people will be worried about getting sick, and some people will be worried about the possibility of harm to their loved ones. Some are worried about their working lives and jobs, while others are worried about the whole society. For many of us, the uncertainty of the situation elevates these concerns.

It is important not to allow these feelings and to give yourself time to adjust to all this new information. Our emotions help us understand what's going on. In this process, it seems that we will be dealing with the definitions of grief, loss, trauma and anxiety. Many of us see these definitions and life very differently, try to be compassionate rather than critical when evaluating your own feelings. Accept that the different emotions you feel are normal. Because it may not be possible to react normally to an extraordinary situation. It is natural for you to have unusual reactions to an extraordinary situation. If your different reactions limit your functionality, do not hesitate to get support. Because you are not alone.

Although it is good to allow your emotions, it is also important not to dwell on them and to distinguish what is useful and what is useless. Talk about these feelings with someone you trust, see what you can do, and avoid constantly following the agenda. Make sure you read and watch the right sources.

Make sure you don't follow the news or constantly browse social media to avoid focusing on these concerns. Remind yourself that you have nothing to gain by just focusing on these. Shift your focus to other things that give you comfort, and if that's difficult, try distracting yourself. Create and follow certain routines for yourself.

We hope that we are slowly approaching the end of the pandemic process. As we slowly return to our daily lives, be careful that this is not a definitive transition. A sudden sharp transition may affect you negatively. Let's not forget that the smoother we go through this process, the healthier we will return to our daily lives.
