When irritation occurs in a certain area due to friction or pressure, the skin reacts by thickening
, that is, it protects that area by forming a callus. For this reason, the definition of callus in its simplest form is the thickening of the skin
for protection.
Most of the areas where callus occurs on the body are places that carry a certain weight. This thickening
may not occur only on the foot, but since the area where calluses are most visible is the feet, foot calluses are generally referred to as foot calluses
As a result of friction that may occur from too narrow or tight shoes or a hard floor. In fact, pressure or friction between two toes
can be an example of these. In all such examples
repeated pressure or friction causes callus formation.
The most common callus is the callus that occurs when the top of the finger comes into contact with the shoe while walking.
The most common causes of callus formation are;
*Tight shoes
*Shoes incompatible with foot structure
*High-heeled shoes
* Walking barefoot outside
* Deformation effects on the toes
* Too bony shape of the foot
* Wrong walking (stepping) movements
When callus occurs, the first symptom is usually felt at the place of callus. It is sharp pain. In mild calluses, when the pressure is removed, the pain disappears, but in deep and large calluses, the pain is much more painful and the callus is more disturbing. Along with the pain, thickening begins in the area.
