Neck and back pain in women may have specific causes. The most common breast enlargement that causes hunchbacks and poor posture is "macromastia".
Excessive mammary gland structure or excess fatty tissue may cause large breast size. Sometimes both factors are effective. If the person is not overweight and does not have a hormonal disorder, breast size is considered structural. Genetic factors may be effective. Abnormally large breast size is called macromastia in women and gynecomastia in men.
The breast size of every woman may increase in certain periods. For example, it may grow temporarily during puberty, pregnancy, periods of excessive weight gain, and periods of hormonal treatment. However, breast size that exists without any such reason causes severe neck, shoulder and back pain. In the future, neck hernia, humpback, even color change and lumpiness may be observed.
If the breast size is more than 500 grams for each breast, the person may benefit from medical breast reduction. After breast reduction surgery, an improvement in posture and a decrease in neck and back pain are observed.
If possible, the breastfeeding period of the patient for whom breast reduction surgery is planned should be over. Since the course of the milk ducts may change after the operation, breastfeeding problems may be observed. Another thing to know is that if there is excessive weight gain after breast reduction surgery, the breasts may grow again, although not as much as before.
There is no relationship between breast reduction surgery and the risk of developing breast cancer. Before breast reduction surgery, breast imaging tests should be performed according to the age group of the patient. Even if the tests are normal, pathological examination must be performed on the excess breast tissue removed during the operation.
