Questions about In Vitro Fertilization Treatment
- What is done when we first apply to the In Vitro Fertilization Center with a request for a child?
First of all, your story is listened to and your age, marriage duration, diseases and surgeries you and your spouse have had, your menstrual cycle and any treatments you have received regarding this issue are questioned. After the gynecological examination and smear test, some tests for you and your partner will be requested. After these test results and these evaluations, it is determined which treatment is most appropriate.
- Can in vitro fertilization be started without trying other treatments?
Sperm Direct in vitro fertilization treatment is applied since other treatments cannot yield results due to reasons such as very small or absent number of tubes or bilateral obstruction of the tubes. By evaluating many factors such as the patient's age, previous marriage, the result of treatments, and ovarian reserve, in vitro fertilization can be performed, if necessary, without trying other treatments such as egg monitoring and insemination. Can she have in vitro fertilization until the age of 35?
Ovarian reserve in women begins to decrease after the age of 35. Although there are individual changes, the chance of pregnancy in a 40-year-old woman is approximately 10%. After the age of 44, this figure is less than 1%.
- Should one rest after in vitro fertilization treatment?
Embryo transfer After treatment, resting for 1-2 hours in the hospital is sufficient. The patient can then continue his normal daily life and activities. Even if the pregnancy test is positive, it should be considered as any other pregnancy and does not require special rest.
Studies have shown that bed rest after embryo transfer does not change the success of pregnancy. For this reason, in our clinic, we tell our patient that it is enough to rest on the day of transfer and that he can return to his normal activities the next day.
- If in vitro fertilization treatment fails, when can we have in vitro fertilization again?
If in vitro fertilization has been performed for the first time and it has failed, we recommend our patient to continue without losing his/her morale. A new trial can be made after 1-2 months. The 2nd and 3rd attempts also failed. If it is confirmed, treatment can be started again after additional examinations such as some genetic tests and hysteroscopy are performed. After the patient prepares himself physically and spiritually, a new application can be started. This period should be at least 1 month. Depending on the couple's wishes, it can be tried after a longer period of time. However, at older ages (over 38 years of age) it should be waited longer.
