Root Canal Treatment Process

Canal treatment is a treatment applied to eliminate the exposure of the nerves in the tooth pulp or infections in the tooth root due to tooth decay or trauma.

The root canal treatment process is performed after the oral history taken from our patients, intraoral examinations and x-ray controls. It is decided whether it is necessary or not and the treatment process begins. Before starting the procedure, local anesthesia is applied, preventing the patient from feeling pain. During the treatment, the part of the tooth affected by decay, if any, is removed, the pulp chamber is opened, and the necessary shaping of the root canals is done after the nerves that cause pain in the tooth roots are removed. To ensure disinfection of bacteria and residues inside the canals, the inside of the canal is washed with some solutions and dried. Root canals are filled with various canal filling materials up to the root tip, and the crown part of the tooth that is visible in the mouth is restored.

Canal treatment can be done in a single session of 30-60 minutes, depending on the condition of the infection in the tooth, or if the infection has spread too much in the bone tissue. More than one session may also be required. In cases where more than one session is required, a healing material is placed inside the root canals between sessions and a temporary filling material is applied inside the tooth to disconnect it from the inside of the mouth.

Teeth that have undergone correct root canal treatment are restored when the necessary oral care procedures are performed and regular dental procedures are performed. It remains in the mouth for many years with medical supervision.
