Roles of Insulin Hormone

In order to understand how hormones function in food intake and metabolism, it is necessary to understand the functions of the hormone called insulin, which is secreted from the organ called the pancreas, and to know its interactions with other hormones. Because insulin functions in fat, protein and carbohydrate (sugar) metabolism. Let us briefly summarize these tasks;

Reactions Stimulated by Insulin Hormone;

Insulin transports glucose (sugar), amino acids (lowest units of proteins) and some ions (such as potassium) from the cell membrane into the cell.

Insulin enables the storage of glucose (sugar) and the production (synthesis) of the storage product (glycogen).

Insulin increases the production of triglycerides (fats) from fatty acids and glycerol.

Stimulates protein synthesis (production) of RNA (Ribonucleic acid and DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) production.

When we look at these tasks, we look at the reasons why a person with Hypoglycemic (i.e. low blood sugar) who has an imbalance in the insulin hormone We can understand why blood sugar has ups and downs, blood fats are high, and Uric acid is high (Uric acid emerges as a result of the metabolism of RNA and DNA).

Reactions Inhibited by Insulin Hormone;

Inhibits the breakdown of storage glucose (Glycogen).

Inhibits the separation of triglycerides (fats) into fatty acids and glycerol by breaking down in the fat storage

Inhibits the breakdown of proteins. (It is anabolic. Cell builder)

Inhibits gluconeogenesis, which means obtaining sugar from glucose (sugar) other products, namely fats and proteins

Inhibits urea production.

Ketone bodies appear as a result of the breakdown of fats. These are products that are harmful to health. This phenomenon is called ketogenesis in medical language. It inhibits this process.

In other words, the hormone insulin ensures that fat is stored, glucose (sugar) is not used for energy, but stored as fat, and proteins are produced.

In other words, people with excess insulin hormone eat sugar but cannot be used as energy. Fats cannot be broken down and used as energy, they are all stored. How does this defect cause obesity? I think I can explain the story.
