When investigating a speech disorder, it should first be established what the sound means. After this definition, the causes of speech disorders should be investigated and the appropriate treatment for speech disorders should be formulated.
VOICE DISORDERS
The air molecules causing vibration in the vocal cords is called phonation (voice). Roughly speaking, it can be called sound production. When examining the causes of speech disorders, it is necessary to first perceive this definition correctly. After correct identification, appropriate speech disorders treatment should be applied.
APHONIA
Vocal cords, inability to adjust air pressure adequately (vocal cord paralysis, tumoral conditions.) , the absence of a vocal cord (e.g. surgical removal of the larynx in cases of laryngeal cancer), being too hard (the vocal cords lose their ability to vibrate due to edema or injured tissue), or the absence of the required vibration due to functional reasons (hysterical aphonia). A positive contribution can be made to the situation by performing various speech disorder exercises.
INAPPROPRIATE VOICE PITCH
Improper voice pitch has an important place among the causes of speech disorders. It is when a person's voice pitch is not appropriate for the person's age, gender or what they want to express. The dimensions of the larynx determine the length of the vocal cords. For example, small larynx, small vocal cords cause more vibration and thinner sound.
This maladjustment occurs in pathologies that cause the mass of the vocal cords to increase. The vibration frequency decreases due to increase in mass. This may cause various types of speech disorders. Ex. Vocal cord edema.
Flexibility changes in the vocal cords affect the vibration frequency. Ex. Less tension results in a lower frequency level, which results in a lower pitch.
INAPPROPRIATE SOUND INTENSE
The person's voice intensity is too high or too low. is considered a disorder. There are many organic reasons. For example: Speaking at inappropriate volumes due to bilateral hearing loss, etc.
DEVIATIONS (DEVIATIONS) IN VOICE QUALITY
If there is no respiratory system infection and the person's voice is hoarse phonation disorder if there is breathlessness or strain in the voice There is dysphonia. This is caused by abnormalities in vocal cord mass or abnormalities in vocal fold movement. (Flexibility of the muscles that stretch the vocal cords, abductor spasmodic dysphonia, adductor spasmodic dysphonia, vocal cord lesions such as vocal cord nodule, sulcus vocalis). Before starting the treatment of speech disorders, symptoms and causes should be thoroughly investigated.
