Moral Development

Morality is a concept we use a lot in daily life. In its Turkish dictionary meaning, morality is defined as the types of behavior and rules that people have to comply with in society. In general, morality is the ability to distinguish right from wrong and to act according to this distinction. It is known as the ability to experience a sense of honor in virtuous behavior and to feel guilt or shame for actions that violate human standards. Individual morality can be shaped according to moral values and behaviors in line with one's own preferences. Society creates values and norms, and it is the individual's choice whether to comply with them or not. Values are the source of behavior and These are the understandings that help to judge them.

So how morally can we raise our children? The question is something to think about... How well do we know ourselves and our children and how do they internalize and learn moral behavior? How do the TV series, movies and television programs we watch in different rooms affect the moral development of our children? Why can't we achieve moral maturity despite all religions teaching about good and moral people? Why are the religious and moral lessons taught in schools still useless, and we have become people who constantly deceive each other and the society? The immorality and corrupt behavior within the family prevents our children from analyzing the correct behavior. This slippery ground in commercial life raises individuals who disregard value judgments such as the ambition to make money, utilitarianism and the needs of people that are constantly waiting to be met. Different lives lived at home, and a society consisting of individuals growing up in moral inconsistency will of course lead to moral corruption... The difficulty of meeting the endless demands of family members It forces them to spend most of their time apart from each other at work. Communication in the family is disrupted by watching ridiculous TV series and series criticisms and comments. How will young people, who have learned from television series that the act of cheating can be normalized and that every woman or man can be deceived, behave correctly? Kohlberg, who conducts moral research, explains the stages of moral development. I would like to present a section of the situational examples he used while examining. What would you do when you encountered this situation?
