Facts About Chia

Does chia help lose weight?

Opinions that chia seeds contribute to weight loss. There is, it is thought that the reason for this is that the gel structure formed when in contact with water helps to stay full. In a study conducted in the USA, people with a BMI over 25kg/m2 were given 50 g/day chia seeds or a placebo (ineffective) in their normal diet for 12 weeks. In the evaluations made at the end of this period, it was reported that there was no significant decrease in blood lipid values ​​or weight loss effect in individuals given chia seeds.
However, we can add it to the diet to help keep full and add fiber, calcium, protein, antioxidants and omega-3. But we need to see more research results to say that it creates a big weight loss. There is positive research for heart health, but limited research for both heart health and weight loss.
