Hot and dry weather triggers bleeding of the vascular bed in this area. In addition, nose bleeding is more common in children because their vascular structure is thinner and more sensitive. There are many causes of nosebleeds. The most common causes in adults are high blood pressure and aspirin, which delays blood clotting, etc. are blood thinners. Apart from these, tumors occupying space in the nose, congenital or acquired abnormal vascular formations or expansions, and some systemic diseases may also cause nosebleeds. In children, the situation is slightly different. Children's nasal covering and vascular structure are thinner and more sensitive than adults. For this reason, they are more easily affected by dry air and heat, and as a result, nosebleeds may occur more frequently. Apart from these, foreign objects entering the nose can also cause nosebleeds, especially in children between the ages of three and six. Nose bleeding that starts suddenly out of the blue can lead the patient to anxiety and panic. Although there is a rich vascular network in the front area of the nose, there are no large arteries or veins in this area. For this reason, a person who has a nosebleed should not panic first. He should immediately pinch the wings of his nose with his thumb and index finger, tilt his head forward and wait for five to ten minutes. This intervention usually stops most nose bleeding. In case of nosebleeds that do not stop despite this intervention, cold application should be applied to the neck area. If there is a cold application, it can be done with an ice battery or cold water in a bag. If this is not available, you can gargle with cold water in your mouth. Rarely, nosebleeds may continue despite all these interventions. In case of bleeding that does not stop despite the interventions listed above and especially from the throat, it is necessary to immediately apply to the nearest emergency room.
