Skin Tumors

What are Skin Tumors
The largest organ of our body is the skin. Skin has a very complex structure. There are many different
cells and tissues in this complex structure. What we call tumors are
masses originating from these cells or tissues. In other words, 'tumor = mass'. Skin tumors=masses can be benign or malignant. Skin tumors are divided into 3 types;

Benign – Benign Skin Tumors

Benign but can turn into cancer – Precancerous Skin Tumors

Malignant – Malignant Skin Tumors – Skin Cancers

Malignant Skin Tumors

Malignant Melanoma:
Malignant melanoma is the most dangerous of the skin tumors.

Malignant melanoma originates from melanocytes. It identifies the cancers of origin. Melanocytes can be found in the skin, eyes, ears, digestive system, brain membranes, mouth and genital area mucosa. It is among the cancers that have increased the fastest in the last 20
years. The mortality rate is high.

The group most at risk is;

Those with light skin,

Those whose skin freckles easily,

A lot of Those with a large number of moles (nevus) and their different shapes and sizes,

Those with a family history of skin cancer,

Those who spend a lot of time outdoors,

Regions close to the equator

Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Skin:

These cancers usually occur in sun-exposed areas of the body, such as the face, ears, neck, lips and back of the hands. They can also develop in scars or chronic skin wounds
anywhere on the body. Sometimes it may also develop from actinic keratosis. If left untreated, there is a high rate of spread
to other parts of the body.

Basal Cell Carcinoma:
It is the most common type of cancer in humans. It usually develops in sun-exposed areas, especially on the head and
neck. These cancers tend to grow slowly. The probability of spreading to another area is very
low.

Benign Skin Tumors:
Nevus (skin tags), seborrheic keratosis, epidermoid cyst, dermatofibroma, lipoma, dermoid cyst, lentigo,
br /> pyogenic granuloma, vein, milia, pilar cyst, syringoma etc. The number of benign skin tumors can be expressed
in the hundreds. that percent It is necessary to talk about the general approach rather than what these tumors are. If a lesion does not grow, does not change color, does not bleed, crust or itch, and has a regular border, it is likely to be benign. It can be said for sure whether a tumor is benign or malignant
by pathological examination, but an experienced doctor can make this distinction largely without the need for pathology.

The main cause of skin cancer is sun exposure. incoming ultraviolet rays. Electric lamps that emit ultraviolet radiation
and artificial tanning light sources can also cause skin cancer. It is a known fact that the thinning of the ozone layer, which protects the world against
ultraviolet rays, also causes a serious increase in skin cancers.
