  • Calendar Method: According to research by the American National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, it has been revealed that women have a very high risk of becoming pregnant between 10-17 days of their menstrual cycle. This research, which is valid for women between the ages of 25-35, has shown that there is a risk of pregnancy in adolescence and menopausal women even one day before menstruation. Nevertheless; Even if menstruation is regular, the calendar method is a risky method to protect against pregnancy and is ineffective.
  • Breastfeeding: Milk secretion, that is, lactation, stops ovarian functions for an undetermined period of time. The frequency and quality of breastfeeding affects the duration of ovulation. Some women who have milk coming from their breasts even though they have not given birth do not ovulate or even menstruate. Although lactating women sometimes do not menstruate or ovulate for up to 2 years, ovulation usually begins within 1-2 months after birth and the risk of pregnancy increases. When complementary foods are started, the risk of pregnancy begins immediately as the frequency of breastfeeding decreases. Women who are not breastfeeding can get pregnant immediately. It is necessary to start birth control methods during this period.
