Course Failure

Course Failure

Course failure is a problem for many students today. Some people cannot succeed in their lessons because they do not study at all, some cannot succeed in their lessons even though they study, and some cannot make their teachers or parents happy even though they think they have succeeded.

Lesson Failure

What should be done for course failureor course success? How to be successful. Why do some students constantly fail? There are many reasons for these results. For a student to be successful, he/she must have a good evaluation for any subject, for example, mathematics or all Grade 7 subjects. Sometimes it may be necessary to make a separate evaluation for each course.

If a student fails all courses and a course such as mathematics, Turkish, English, and if this has been the case in the past, the first thing to do is an IQ test. An intelligence test should be performed to determine whether there is a general intelligence problem or a specific learning disability. If a deficiency in any area is revealed as a result of the test, then special training or support training is required for the deficiency. In such cases, no matter how hard the student works, he cannot be successful.

If the IQ test result is found to be normal, psychological factors such as attention deficit and anxiety disorder must be eliminated. The student's inability to pay attention to the subject and high anxiety cause him/her not to understand the subject even if he/she listens to the teacher or reads or studies the subject, and I have encountered many students like this in my 20 years of experience. Even though he comes to class regularly and studies, he cannot be successful.

Exam anxiety is another factor that leads to course failure. Even though the student knows very well, he cannot reveal what he knows in the exam due to anxiety. In this case, psychotherapy can be a good help. In addition, teachers should not evaluate students only with their exam scores. A wide evaluation scale will also be a source of motivation for students with low performance.

Apart from all these, we also have students who fail their courses. How do students in this group study? They don't know if they will get used to it. Success can be easily increased by preparing a strategic study plan with the cooperation of the student, guidance counselor and parents. Parents have important duties here. An unconditionally protective, accepting and loving approach to your children will be of great benefit in winning them over.
