Birth control means having as many children as a couple can take care of, says Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Op. Dr. Abdulaziz Akkaya “The contraceptive practices that couples use to have the number of children they want are called “birth control”. The most common mistake here is this: "Birth control is a method used to reduce the population, which is very wrong." said.
Family planning
Family planningOp explains that individuals and couples should have as many children as they can care for at the time they want. Dr. Akkaya said, “Family planning is different from the concepts of population planning and birth control. Family planning helps individuals or spouses to avoid unwanted pregnancies, to regulate the period between two births, to decide when and how many children to have, taking into account their age and socioeconomic status, to help childless spouses. It is all the practices that help people have children, the aim is to protect their health. Family planning means family health.” He said.
Which birth control method
Op.Dr. underlined that he does not recommend a single birth control method to the couples who apply to him. Akkaya said, “There is no single birth control method that is most suitable for everyone. People may use different birth control methods at different periods of their lives. The important thing is to get accurate information about the methods before making a decision.” He said.
Op.Dr. emphasized that it is necessary to recommend the most appropriate method according to the family's situation, conditions and fertility expectations. Akkaya said, “This is extremely important. For example, in a couple who have never had children, it is better to recommend birth control pills or condoms to the woman more frequently and if appropriate. If the woman has experienced fertility, that is, if she is a couple who has had a child at least once, it is necessary to explain all the methods to the woman after birth. For example, intrauterine device, birth control pills, condom or subcutaneous implants.
There is a birth template for everyone. There is no control method.
