Psychology of the Coronavirus Pandemic

The biggest threat to people these days is the coronavirus epidemic. While the epidemic is spreading around the world at full speed, it is restricting people's lives, and therefore the lives of restricted individuals are accompanied by negative emotions.

When we examine the past periods, the world is actually no stranger to coronavirus-like epidemics. It has been determined that there were many epidemics similar to this disease in Asia and China in the 20th century and nearly millions of people lost their lives.

As can be seen, coronavirus-like epidemics have occurred before and there is no guarantee that they will not occur in the future. Now we need to focus on how we can deal with this situation. Then it's time to raise some awareness on what we will do. Life does not promise us that we will always be happy from the moment we are born, and life itself is a cycle that includes positive and negative events.

There are parts of people's lives that they can and cannot control, and Studies show that individuals struggling with anxiety and stress focus on solving problems beyond their control. So, what are the measures we take regarding coronavirus that cover our own control area? We can include washing our hands and face, changing our clothes, keeping distance between ourselves and people and not going out, and giving warnings to our loved ones. These are the parts that fall within our own self-control area and this is our area where we can intervene. Apart from ourselves and our loved ones, every precaution we take regarding the virus is beyond our control. If we discuss the effects of the virus on Turkey and the world agenda right now and try to find a solution regarding its effects, what we can do will only increase our anxiety and stress. Let's think of disaster scenarios right now and try to take more precautions. What do you think is the benefit of this situation for us?

Continuously reading news about coronavirus, thinking about and discussing it, and taking extreme precautions will further reduce our limited energy. Unfortunately, humans are not creatures that can be happy by constantly thinking. People engage in something, read, and engage in activities. He is a being who can be happy by forgetting. So, after taking our precautions regarding coronavirus, our aim is to spend time and engage in activities that are good for us and that we love.

In other words, focusing on our own control area will be one of the best moves we can make in these difficult days.
