What is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)?

Hello, this week I will talk about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), which is also known as 'Obsession' among the people…..

Sessions do not only contribute to our patients, our patients also experience our development and experience. They help us add. Together with our patients, we learn many things together in our therapies. Each of my clients is very valuable and unique to me, and each of my gains from them is a special experience. A few years ago, I received a recommendation for a movie called “Toc Toc” from one of my clients. I think it's a great movie and they handled Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in such a good and quality way that I was amazed and I especially recommend it to all my clients. People who are called obsessive among the people actually suffer from OCD patients, that is, the disease called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. OCD is a disorder that negatively affects and complicates the lives of people, and even if the person finds it absurd, he cannot stop and prevent it. There are comments from our patient that if you make a little effort, it will all pass, but despite the incredible battles within the person, he cannot get rid of it. In psychology, we also call this disease 'Cancer of Psychological Disorders'. Because this disease causes an extremely resistant and wearing process. Sometimes there is a process that lasts for months or even years and can turn the life of the person and his/her relatives into a dungeon. Even knowing how meaningless and absurd these thoughts are, the person cannot stop his thoughts, and this bothers him by tiring. His mind is constantly busy with these thoughts.

Although it may seem very simple when describing OCD, it is full of suffering for the living. The treatment of this disease and the change of the patient is not so easy at all. It requires a strict follow-up and treatment process together with a strict teamwork. Because the disease is a persistent disease that recurs and recurs obsessively in one's mind.

If we were to give a few specific examples of this disease, I think I could simply write them down;

The person feels the need to clean himself constantly and believes that he is dirty, as well as constantly washing his hands or washing his hands, constantly changing his clothes and throwing them into the dirty basket. Cleaning his house, room, car and belongings with medicated water over and over again is to continue this until his hands bleed and wounds.

He keeps repeating numbers in his mind, counting the steps of the stairs, traffic lights on the road, tree leaves and days.

It is possible to be constantly uneasy and to be suspicious of everything. For example, many other things can be added to these, such as going and checking the car with a twill, the desire to go over and over to check whether the iron is turned off, and checking whether the fountain is on or off.

He wants everything to be in its proper place. and, in case of change, uneasiness and uneasy desire to correct.

If there is a state of panic that causes an increase in the level of anxiety, causes distress, is undesirable, compelling, persistent, repetitive, and does not act on what one thinks, it is an obsession-related obsession disorder. In return, strict rules, repetitive behaviors or mental actions that the person does to relax or feel compelled are compulsions.

OCD/obsessions are a significant source of distress or waste of time, disrupting the person's normal daily duties and responsibilities at work. It disrupts interpersonal and even family relationships, and can distract from socializing. In this disease, it is very, very important to get treatment, that is, psychological support. If you or someone around you has such ailments, you should immediately consult a specialist for support.
