Communication

Communication is literally defined as the exchange of feelings, thoughts, information and news between people, and the mutual transfer of feelings, thoughts, information and news from person to person in every conceivable form and way. Communication is, above all, important for a person to realize himself as a human being and to enter into social processes. Thanks to communication, people have the opportunity to reveal the concepts and ideas in their minds, share and evaluate them. Influencing others, being influenced by them, benefiting from them, being useful and achieving success are possible through communication. The continuation of relationships between people is possible through communication.

Living is an event that includes a communication network and communication activities. As soon as we exist, we are in constant communication with the environment. Unknowingly, we begin to influence and change our environment, and again unconsciously, we begin to be influenced and adapt to our environment. This two-way transaction lasts a lifetime. We reveal our personality through our communication habits and communication efforts. What we know, what we hear, and what we can do is determined by our communication attitude. The tool of interpersonal relationships is communication: we use communication to understand, learn, explain and reach others. It is obvious that human beings have used a wide variety of communication tools since history.

Studies on communication show that communication has three basic features. The first of these is that communication activity requires people. Communication can only be established through people's need to understand each other. Second, communication requires sharing; That is, in communication, the sender and the receiver must agree on a common meaning of the message. Finally, communication is symbolic. Symbols; gestures, facial expressions, sounds, letters, numbers and words. Communication occurs when the sender and receiver give the same meaning to the message (Tutar, Yılmaz, & Erdönmez, 2003).

Communication is a dynamic process; That is, it constantly changes and this change continues uninterruptedly. When the definitions of communication are examined, it is seen that the communication process is the process of sending a message to the receiver in an understandable form. Communication, the source's message It starts with organizing and thinking about how to send (encode) it. It must be in a position to detect the messages sent by the receiver to the other party and analyze this coding. If the receiver can analyze the message sent by the source and transform it into a thought and give feedback, the communication process is completed.

When we look around us, there seems to be no area where communication does not exist, but the problem is which of us prefers healthy communication. In a program I watched the other day, a famous person complained, "Is there anyone among you with whom I can communicate in a healthy way?", which may also give clues about the society. I think that healthy communication is essential to create a healthy environment. Then our slogan was “Healthy communication is essential for a healthy society!”
