Breast (breast) augmentation surgery is a surgical technique that, in its most commonly applied form, allows increasing or restoring the size of the breast by placing an implant (silicone) in the breast. Every year, hundreds of thousands of women around the world have this surgery for different reasons.
The most common reasons can be listed as follows:
To increase the size of the natural breast
Correcting the asymmetry in the breasts (breast sizes being different from each other)
Restoring the breast volume lost due to reasons such as weight loss, pregnancy or breastfeeding
Achieving a more beautiful body shape and proportion. feeling better
This surgery is called 'breast augmentation surgery'. In breast augmentation surgery, silicone is placed in the appropriate area through a small skin incision. The recovery period usually requires rest ranging from 24 hours to 48 hours.
HOW TO DO YOUR EXAMINATION AND SELECTION OF THE IMPLANT (SILICON)?
Before the surgery In your first examination, Assoc.Prof.Dr. You will meet Haldun Kamburoğlu. In this examination; Your general health condition, the diameter, shape and size of your own breasts will be examined and the most suitable method will be explained to you. In addition, special conditions related to the surgery (breast asymmetry, rib cage deformities, breast sagging, etc.) and their treatments, safety-related issues and the post-operative period will also be explained. With the professional and expert guidance of your doctor, you will determine the breast implant size and the area where the implant will be placed (such as under the breast, armpit).
Before your first appointment with your doctor, it is recommended that you do research on breast augmentation surgery. Bra sizes consist of a number and a letter. The number determines your underbreast circumference, and the letter determines your breast size. You can get an idea of size by trying on various bras. However, an important issue you should pay attention to is that the sizes corresponding to these letters may differ between bra producing countries. Do not get hung up on prosthesis volumes (cc). A prosthesis volume that may be insufficient for you may be quite large for another patient. The width of your ribcage and your height are the most important factors that help us decide. are two of the parameters. In summary, we can say that if you are having augmentation surgery, placing the most suitable prosthesis that your rib cage can accommodate, but which is NATURAL, will give the best results. In augmentation surgeries, there is a very fine line between what is big and natural and what is big and ugly. The most important factor in determining this is the experience and taste of your surgeon. During the surgery, your surgeon works while you sleep. They wake you up and ask 'did you like it?' It is naturally impossible to ask. Therefore, try to thoroughly understand the tastes of the surgeon you decide to have surgery with.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haldun Kamburoğlu will perform very detailed measurements during your examination to determine the size of the prosthesis to be placed. Then, analog simulation will be performed in front of the mirror with silicones of various sizes and thus the suitable prosthesis for you will be determined. Your body will be scanned in 3D with our Vectra 3D device so that you can see how this prosthesis will look on you as close to the result of the surgery as possible. Our systems will digitally simulate the silicone we have chosen placed on your body for you. Yes, at this point you will have a clear answer to your most curious question, 'what size?'
Breast implants are produced in two ways: drop (anatomical) and round. The outside of these implants is a silicone sheath and the inside is silicone gel. New generation implants are very resistant to impacts and pressure. (There is a video about this on Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haldun Kamburoğlu's Facebook page.) Nowadays, drop (anatomical) prosthesis is more preferred in standard breast enlargement surgeries. The reason for this is that much more natural results can be obtained with drop prosthesis. In addition, the silicone gel in drop dentures is produced with a much more advanced technology than round dentures. As a result, according to the 10-year results of the manufacturing companies, complications such as capsular contracture, seroma or deformation of the prosthesis (which also causes sagging under the breast) are less common in drop prostheses than in round prostheses. In other words, contrary to popular belief, the sagging of drop dentures is less than that of round dentures due to their superior production technologies. On the other hand, surgical technique is required Due to its size, some patients who undergo breast lift and enlargement at the same time may also prefer a round prosthesis. Associate Professor. A frequently asked question to Haldun Kamburoğlu is the possibility of drop dentures turning inside. Although this possibility exists in the book, none of his patients have ever experienced this or a similar problem. He prefers Mentor brand prostheses approved by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in his surgeries.
PREPARATION FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY
Surgery Before
It is important that you take into consideration the following points before undergoing surgery:
During your pre-operative examination, Assoc. A form will ask about your medications, whether you have any allergies, and your previous surgeries. Some tests necessary for you to receive general anesthesia will be performed 1 week before the surgery, and their results will be evaluated by anesthesiologists.
Before the surgery, you must make sure that you do not have any problems with your health. It is important that you are in good physical conditions because this reduces the risks during surgery and ensures a faster recovery process. If you are currently continuing a treatment or treatments, you should inform Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haldun Kamburoğlu. Our aim; minimizing possible complications, increasing the results of surgical practice and providing you with the highest patient safety conditions in today's current conditions.
Aspirin etc. You should not use blood thinners containing Ibuprofen, painkillers and flu medications for at least 1 week before and 2 weeks after the surgery. For blood thinners such as Coumadin and anti-rheumatic medication, the treatment protocol is slightly different and will be explained by your doctor.
If you are using birth control pills, you must stop them completely for 1 month before and 1 month after the surgery. Roacuttane etc. If you are using medications, it is recommended that you do not use them for 6 months before and 6 months after the surgery.
Vitamin E, garlic, sour cherry, ginseng, green tea, herbal teas, flaxseed, resveratrol (red wine extract). Substances can also cause blood thinning. For this reason, it is recommended that you do not take these substances until at least 1 week before surgery. It is recommended that you do not use these substances for at least 2 weeks after the surgery.
Call Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haldun Kamburoğlu and inform him about all your diseases and all the medications you need to use (including all painkillers) in the 3 weeks before the surgery. .
If you smoke, it is preferable to quit smoking 4 weeks before the surgery to reduce the risks of general anesthesia.
Take a bath 1 night before the surgery.
Pyjamas with buttons on the front when coming to the hospital. bring it. Do not bring a nightgown.
Using 1000mg vitamin C once a day for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the surgery will help accelerate your wound healing.
If you have hair around your nipple before the surgery, remove them with scissors. You can cut it. However, pulling them with tweezers is dangerous due to the possibility of folliculitis (hair follicle inflammation).
In order to receive general anesthesia, you must remain hungry for 8 hours and dehydrated for 4 hours before the surgery.
HOW IS BREAST ENLARGEMENT SURGERY PERFORMED?
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Haldun Kamburoğlu begins the surgery process with a small incision of 3.5 - 4 cm from the submammary incision, which can be easily hidden in the submammary fold. The incision under the breast is brought exactly to the new sub-breast fold so that the scar is not visible, so it is difficult to see the scar even when naked. He does not prefer the armpit incision to patients wearing slings, as there is a possibility that the scar may be visible when they lift their arms (unless the patient specifically requests it). Similarly, nipple incision; It is not preferred due to possible loss of sensation, visible scars and the possibility of infection. In the next stage, the implant is placed through the incision. The implant is placed in the area using the submuscular method, the overmuscular method (just behind the breast tissue), the submuscular membrane method or the dual plane method (a more advanced version of the submuscular method). Associate Professor. Although Haldun Kamburoğlu prefers the dual plane technique, which is the most up-to-date and successful method, the type of implant, the size you want to enlarge and your specific anatomical needs should be taken into account when deciding which method to use. Rak decides. The sub-breast tissue method is also a suitable choice for individuals who have sufficient skin thickness and do active sports. On the other hand, the sub-muscle membrane method, which has become popular in the last 10 years, is not preferred because clinical studies published in the literature have not shown any superiority over the sub-breast tissue method and it also causes a prolongation of the healing process.

At the end of the surgery, the nerves between the ribs are anesthetized and a technique is applied to minimize your post-operative pain. When breast augmentation surgery is completed, your incision will be closed with an aesthetic stitch that can dissolve in the body. There is a small surgical scar at the beginning, but with careful and careful care, it will decrease and even disappear over time. Associate Professor. Haldun Kamburoğlu does not use drains (a hose system that carries out possible blood accumulations in the body) in any primary breast augmentation surgery (unless there is a vascular abnormality). This is because the use of drains may increase the possibility of developing capsular contracture.
