There is an area we want to reference in the interviews. Your values. We are curious about what you value
. We want to discover your values and analyze whether you live a life consistent with them. During the sessions, we strive to help you create goals that align with your values. We hope to get closer to these goals with you, step by step, as your sessions progress. Achieving the goals we set in the sessions takes place in a two-forward-one-back rhythm. After setting goals in the sessions in line with your values and what you value, of course we will encounter obstacles along the way. For example, let's say you have a problem with anger management. When you set a goal in line with your values regarding this problem, obstacles such as merging with thoughts, avoiding discomfort, moving away from values may loom over you and grin evilly at you.
What does merging with thoughts, avoiding discomfort, moving away from values mean? ? What do these mean? In case of merging with thoughts, your mind tells you to take a step back. In other words, the thoughts that pass through our minds can distract us from the path we set out to follow. For example, if you are experiencing social phobia, your mind may associate with the thought, "If you do not present properly, they may make fun of you, you may be embarrassed." In other words, you may stick to this thought. In this case, you may retreat from the path of presentation and your values, which is not what you want. What is discomfort avoidance? Being uncomfortable sounds very unattractive, right? But what if being disturbed is your friend and you don't know about it? To give another example, it may be difficult for a person suffering from social phobia to perform because the person feels uncomfortable in that situation. I want to underline the word uncomfortable. He avoids situations where he needs to perform because he feels uncomfortable. In this case, unfortunately, he cannot show the performance he wants to show. Therefore, it moves away from its values.
However, if we make room within ourselves for the discomfort that this challenge brings, that is, if we accept that we feel uncomfortable while performing, we will be one step forward, even if we say it is a big step, it would not be a lie. So what does it mean to break away from values? Forgetting what is valuable to us. Not keeping it in our minds, that is, not reminding ourselves of our values We can say k. What prevents us from acting in line with our values? For example, thinking "I can't do this, it's too hard, I'll do it later" can prevent us from acting in line with our values. Setting exaggerated goals can also produce the same result. An exaggerated goal, such as setting a goal for which you do not have enough time, can again distract us from our values. Sometimes our inner lives create an obstacle, such as a feeling of anxiety or the thought of being inadequate.
I wish you to follow the path of your values.
