Speech and language therapist/pathologist (SLP) deals with human communication and language - speech and is involved in the treatment of voice, speech, swallowing functions and language disorders in all age groups. A speech and language therapist/pathologist is a healthcare professional responsible for the lifelong prevention, differential diagnosis, evaluation, treatment and scientific examination of disorders related to human communication.
Language and speech therapists are able to make differential diagnoses in their own subjects and evaluate them. They are members of an independent professional group specialized in various fields of interpersonal communication problems, who identify problems and solutions, plan and carry out therapy after evaluation, and work in close cooperation with relevant experts and sub-experts while performing these duties. It is responsible for preventing, differentially diagnosing and preparing and implementing an intervention program for all disorders related to human communication in children, adolescents, adults and the elderly:
Articulation (lip- cleft palate, cerebral palsy etc. or functional developmental deficiency, late development or unknown cause) and other speech sound disorders
Aphasia (loss of language and speech after stroke) Evaluation and therapy of speech and language disorders and other neurological origins (dysarthria, apraxia)
Swallowing, therapy of swallowing disorders
Voice disorders
Specific language disorders
Specific learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) and disorders affecting logical processing/reasoning
Early language and speech education and therapy for children with special needs and developmental disabilities (such as autism)
Children with hearing loss and speech and language therapy for individuals with acquired hearing loss
Swallowing and speech therapy after laryngectomy, tracheostomy
Cerebral disorders due to aging Communication for individuals with (ALS, Parkinson, Alzheimer, Dementia, etc.) match therapy
