Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Op.Dr. Bahar Çelen said that low water consumption during pregnancy may cause miscarriage.
Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Op.Dr. stated that nutritional quality is very important to control weight during pregnancy. Bahar Çelen said, “For the health of the mother and the baby, it is important to choose what you eat during pregnancy, rather than eating too much. Protein-based nutrition is very important due to the needs of the baby and the mother. Meat, fish, chicken and eggs should be included in daily meals. One should not stay hungry for a long time, and care should be taken with snacks. Snacks should be supplemented with products such as milk, yoghurt, almonds and walnuts. Frequent feeding will prevent reflux, nausea and burning in the stomach. Frequent consumption is the issue I focus on most during pregnancy. Depending on the season, 2.5 or 3 liters of water should be consumed. Attention should be paid to water consumption to prevent urinary tract infection and premature birth. Dehydration during pregnancy can cause uterine contractions, labor pains, and even premature birth. That's why it is vital for pregnant women to consume plenty of fluids. However, one should stay away from tea and coffee, which cause fluid loss by frequent urination,” he said.
If there is no medical problem, Çelen stated that being active also plays an important role in weight control and said, “If the pregnancy progresses in its natural process, sports should be done. is required. If we pay attention to nutrition and exercise, our weight control will remain normal. We should not exceed 1 kilo in the first three months and then 1 kilo every month thereafter. Excessive weight gain is one of the misconceptions of our people. Gaining excess weight can negatively affect the health of the mother and baby. "For health reasons, low-heeled sports shoes should be preferred," he said.
