Differences Between Soda and Mineral Water

Hello everyone. This week, I will talk about two drinks that are frequently confused and some people do not even think they are different. Our topic is soda and mineral water. Although soda and mineral water are confused with each other, there is actually an important difference between them.

In fact, soda is natural water that contains sodium carbonate, which facilitates digestion. Mineral water is a beverage containing dissolved minerals obtained from groundwater. Mineral water differs from soda because it contains dissolved minerals and gases. Soda does not contain minerals. Carbon dioxide gas is found naturally in mineral water, but in soda, this gas is added later. When carbon dioxide gas comes into contact with our tongue, it temporarily numbs the taste sensors, making it easier to drink.

Mineral water is a very healthy and recommended drink, thanks to the minerals it contains. In addition to drinking water to replace the minerals lost through sweat, respiration and urine, mineral water can also be considered a daily need. You can drink up to two bottles of mineral water a day. However, this is necessary for healthy individuals without hypertension, heart or kidney diseases. Mineral water contains a lot of sodium. Excessive amounts of sodium taken into the body can be a risk factor for osteoporosis as it promotes calcium excretion through urine. The mineral water you consume without exceeding the daily limit will prioritize the loss of water and minerals in the body. It can also be considered as a supplement to meet the daily calcium needs of individuals of all ages. The high content of bicarbonate in mineral water suppresses excess stomach acid in stomach diseases characterized by excess acid, burning and rancidity. Since it meets the minerals necessary for the skin, it helps the skin gain a smoother, younger and more vibrant appearance. There is no harm in growing children consuming mineral water in moderation. The calcium and other minerals it contains will play an important role in its growth and development. In addition, its consumption is important as it supports bone development in childhood, youth and old age. There is no harm in consuming it during pregnancy if there is no health problem. Also suitable for athletes or individuals who do active sports. The importance of adenine water is very high. To replace the water and minerals lost through sweat during sports, you can prepare your own drink by mixing buttermilk and mineral water after sports.

Fruit sodas increase the risk of cancer due to the artificial sweeteners in them. Instead of fruit soda, you can make your own fruit mineral water by adding lemon or your favorite fruits into your mineral water.

As a result, although both of them serve to relax the stomach, my preference and recommendation would be mineral water because of the rich minerals it contains.

Hoping that the diets that started on Monday will continue, I wish you a healthy week.
