Laser Hair Removal

Laser epilation is the process of removing unwanted hair using laser beams. A laser beam is a beam of independent light traveling at a certain wavelength and in the same direction. This light beam is absorbed by the melanin pigment, which gives the hair its color, and the resulting heat is transmitted to the hair root. Thus, the hair follicles become heated and destroyed without causing any damage to other structures of the skin. The aim is to minimize or completely eliminate the ability to form new hair.

Laser epilation can be performed at any age, starting from the beginning of menstruation. It is also applied in the treatment of ingrown hairs.

Laser epilation applications are a medical procedure and must be performed under the supervision of a specialist physician.

WHAT PARTS OF THE BODY CAN LASER BE APPLIED?< br /> In women, it is most common in the upper lip, chin, bikini area, arms, legs, armpit areas and nipple; In men, it is mostly applied to the back, shoulders, chest area and beard area.

WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE LASER EPILATION?
The hairs in the area to be applied should be cleaned for 1 month before the procedure. It should not be removed from the root with waxing, tweezing or epilator, and tanning should be avoided for 1 month before.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF LASER EPILATION?
• The rate of melanin per unit area in dark skinned skin. Since there is more skin, laser energy is absorbed more than light skin and the high heat generated can cause skin burns. These burns can later lead to color changes called hyperpigmentation (darkening of skin color) and hypopigmentation (lightening of skin color). It should be well protected from the sun after the application.

• During laser applications, the skin becomes hot and needs to be cooled. Cooling in laser epilation is an important factor that prevents skin damage.
• Short-term redness and edema may occur on the skin.
• Since laser beams are quite strong and bright, they can damage the eyes, so special glasses must be used during the procedure. .
• Laser application has no relation with the formation of cancer and does not damage internal organs.

THE MOST SUITABLE FOR LASER EPILATION WHAT IS WHEN AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD IT BE APPLIED?
Although autumn, winter and spring are the most suitable times for laser epilation, laser epilation can also be performed in the summer months, provided that the sun is well protected.

It should be applied to the face every 1-2 months and to the body parts every 2-3 months. With laser epilation, only the hairs in the growth phase are removed. This is why laser epilation does not produce results in a single session.

Number of sessions; hair color (light-colored hair requires more sessions), genetic structure (darker-skinned people require more sessions), hormonal status, area treated (upper lip, face, beard, upper leg and back area requires more sessions), hair The amount varies depending on factors such as age (more sessions are required in adolescence and twenties), weight (excess weight increases hair growth) and medications used.
