HOW IS ALLERGY DIAGNOSIS?

Allergy diagnosis is made by skin prick tests and blood measurements. Atopy patch tests applied for different allergy types are also helpful in the diagnosis of allergy. Skin

tests, blood tests and patch tests can be performed in our clinic. Skin prick tests are preferred because they are highly reliable, provide rapid results, and allow extensive allergy screening. Skin

prick tests can be performed on all age groups. The information that skin tests cannot be performed on babies and young children is incorrect.

There are situations that require skin testing even on a one-day-old baby.

Allergy tests in children must be performed and evaluated by a Pediatric Allergist.

Tests not performed by a Pediatric Allergist are not reliable. Skin tests are not painful tests; they are performed on the skin, usually on the arm or back. The Pediatric Allergist should decide which skin test to perform according to age groups

and the patient's complaints.

The results of the test are evaluated within 15-20 minutes, which is very important so that the correct treatment can be started immediately

and protective measures can be taken immediately.

Wishing you a healthy day,
