What is an Epidural Injection?
Pressure on the nerves in cases such as neck hernia and lumbar hernia It is possible. On whichever nerve there is pressure, the patient feels pain in the area where the nerve at that level spreads. For example, pressure on the nerves at the lower level of the waist causes severe pain in the lower back and legs. The aim is to remove the edema caused by the pressure of the disc on the nerve in that area, and to remove the pressure on the nerve.
Pain completely disappears in most of the patients who undergo the procedure. In a small number of patients who do not improve, the procedure can be repeated. The procedure can be repeated 3 times in a few months.
In Which Situations Are Epidural Injections Applied?
- Acute pain, post-operative pain, post-traumatic pain

- Pains after herpes
- Pain due to vascular occlusion
- Ureter colic, kidney stones
- Chronic pains
- Back, leg, neck and arm pain
- Spinal canal stenosis

- Ghost pains seen in those whose arms and legs are amputated
What is Epidural and Spinal Combined Anesthesia?
It is a combination of two methods. While a comfortable surgical environment is created with spinal anesthesia in patients for whom good muscle laxity and immobility are desired, medication is given for postoperative pain control via an inserted epidural catheter. This method is often preferred in cesarean section surgeries.
