Human and the World of Meaning

All humanity continues to produce meanings in a sequence from past to present. Language is the symbolization of these meanings. Meanings are transferred to symbols and culture is created; culture is transmitted from generation to generation. From a young age, we are born into these meanings, we grow up in the world of meanings. We need a pair of shoes, a perfume or Meanings are attributed to an event. Thanks to these meanings, we provide non-verbal communication. For example; A very stylish suit we wear can represent our income and status. Money is a value created for the world of meanings. In fact, "money", which is nothing more than a piece of paper, becomes valuable when we attribute meaning to it.

Every age has a neurosis, and every age has a neurosis. He needed his own psychotherapy to deal with this. The gap in today's world of meanings is an existential gap. Undoubtedly, man is a finite being and his freedom is limited. Freedom is not irresponsibility. In fact, I think freedom and responsibility are equally important. The gaps in meaning that people experience form the basis of today's psychological disorders. Meaninglessness "why are we here?" "life is so meaningless!" It reveals the questions and arises when individuals cannot find an answer that satisfies them. If a person could look at the situation in its essence, he would not adopt all these thoughts. Although the science of psychology represents understanding the human being, the individual is the only being that is unpredictable in terms of personality and essence and changes and develops at any moment. One of the fundamental characteristics of human existence is the ability to rise above the conditions and go beyond them. The movements of a machine or a robot can be predicted. Beyond this, we can try to predict the mechanisms or dynamic forces of the human psyche, but the human being is more than a soul. Even a very severe psychosis patient has psychosis at his deepest core. A psychotic individual who is impossible to cure may lose his usefulness, but he will preserve his core of being human. The human being is the only being that ultimately determines himself, there are all kinds of powers in his potential. Good and evil do not depend on the circumstances but on our decisions. The important thing in a given situation is to do the best. American culture has repeatedly taught individuals. It is a feature of that culture that it commands to be happy. But happiness is not sought, it is It needs to be revealed. For example; If you want a person to laugh, ordering him to "laugh" is useless. You have to tell him a joke. A real laugh cannot be achieved by command.

An individual's search for meaning, once successful, not only makes him happy, It gives him the ability to cope with pain. If the orientation towards meaning is delayed and as a result the search for instant gratification prevails. In fact, the plague of our age, drugs, is the result of this kind of search for meaning, creating people addicted to pleasure. Although the reason for the feeling of meaninglessness is an oversimplification, today's depression is the fact that people have nothing to live for, even though they have many things to live for. People have the tools, but they do not have the purpose. They poison a new generation by transferring their value orientation to the new generations, allowing them to grow up in their own meaninglessness.
