Nausea and vomiting complaints are encountered in 50% of pregnant women, but in 1-2% of them, these complaints become very severe and cause weight loss. This severe nausea and vomiting condition that requires treatment is called Hyperemesis Gravidarum.
Hyperemesis Gravidarum does not harm the baby, does not cause developmental delay or low birth weight in the baby. .
What Should Be Done in the Treatment?
- Try to eat salty and dry foods.
- Instead of 3 meals a day, 6 meals a day. It should be eaten frequently and little.
- Especially for morning sickness, as soon as you wake up, you should snack on something dry like pretzels or biscuits to calm your stomach.
- Food usually consists of cheese-bread, boiled potatoes, yoghurt and rice. Dry foods such as rice and pasta should be preferred.
- Efforts should be made to drink liquids.
- Oily and juicy foods should be avoided.
- One should rest and avoid stress as much as possible.
- Bed rest and, if necessary, hospitalization and intravenous nutrition should be administered.
- Support should be taken from auxiliary medications for nausea that your doctor deems appropriate.
