These occur most frequently in adults. A special disease called heel pain, that is, Sever's disease, is most frequently seen in the children's age group. Heel spurs are observed in patients with heel pain. While it occurs, it is more common in some age groups, rheumatism patients and pregnant women. It is observed more frequently in women than men. The patient first says that his heel hurts when he wakes up in the morning and when he gets tired in the evening. These patients come to us with classic heel pain. While some recover with a very simple intervention, some cannot recover from this for years and end up having surgery. Patients often ask the question "Do I have a thorn in my heel?" When we take x-rays on patients, we see a rose thorn-like thorn under the heel bone. We also show this to patients. This thorn is actually a bone. It is called heel spur because its structure resembles a thorn. This protruding bone causes pain to the patient as it comes into contact with the ground while walking. In fact, what causes the pain is the edema of the ligament holding on to that protruding bone. The beam there is causing the real pain. In patients with heel pain, we say that they have heel spurs based on the X-ray results. This is not a thorn. Heel pain in children is caused by Sever disease. Sever's disease is the periodic pain caused by the growth cartilage in the heel. This pain may occur in one or both heels. One month you may have pain, the next month you may have a pain-free period. It usually occurs between the ages of 6 and 10. Nothing will happen to the child from Sever's disease. "Pain relieving creams are given, be patient, and it will pass in 1 day," he said.
