How Can I Overcome Social Phobia?

In social environments; We briefly call social phobia the distress or avoidance behaviors experienced due to fear of humiliation or humiliation. For the person experiencing social phobia, this situation is perceived as a sad, embarrassing and often insurmountable problem. However, as someone who has been working on this issue for many years, I can say that I have often witnessed the complete recovery of social phobia with psychotherapy studies.

I would like to summarize the main lines of the treatment to give you hope.

  • Being as you are or being as you are. It is always advantageous to start from where you are; So accept that you are shy, ordinary or blocked for a while, this will give you a driving force. You must get rid of the feeling that you are very comfortable or powerful and that you must be perfect at every moment.

  • Realize whatever you judge about life and yourself; People panic and experience distress when doing things they judge. For example, have you noticed how you judge someone who gives a presentation casually or with excitement? Or have you ever noticed how you judge people you don't know by their appearance while sitting in a cafe?

  • Life consists of cycles and moments, that is, instead of focusing on the "moment" and "what happened at that moment", you always look at how you look. Or realize that you are focused on your performance, and when you realize this, focus on the "moment", that is, what you need to do, what you need to talk about. Correct breathing, meditation, and mindfulness are incredibly useful methods for social phobia. Even teaching correct breathing and how to breathe in social environments causes rapid relaxation. In other words, never break contact with yourself and your breath while coming into contact with someone else.

  • After digesting the above principles, gradual step-up exercises will be useful. In other words, you will be able to gradually do what you cannot do.

  • Remember, awareness about social phobia is not enough; if the exercises are done regularly for 1-2 months, the brain adapts and begins to allow comfort and self-confidence. In other words, the right therapist, the right exercises and time are needed to overcome the negative conditioning of the lower brain.

  • I think many of you have tried to do these exercises without sufficient awareness and failed or become psychotic. I can guess that you have partially benefited from using medication without medication. Never despair, I can say that with the right guidance and therapy, you are very likely to overcome this problem completely.
