What we call Play Therapy; An activity spent with the child, entertaining the child, educating the child, creating something to keep the child occupied, etc. not. Play Therapist also; The teacher, playmate or older brother is not the person who will impose the behavior and thoughts that the parent wants on the child. 'Game represents a language of communication that reveals the child's inner world. Because; "For the counselor, play means observing and understanding the symbolic meaning of the child's play," says Virginia Axline. That's why we support the child's spiritual healing and development by using different methods through play, which is a communication tool. In summary; Play therapy is a therapy process in which the child can convey and resolve his/her feelings and thoughts through selected play materials and in a safe relationship environment where the therapist establishes a safe relationship with the child. The play therapist is; It establishes a safe relationship by not intervening or guiding the child on any issue, but by unconditionally accepting and respecting the child's feelings, thoughts and behaviors.
There is a Play Therapy method that is based on many evidences. One of these is Child-Centered Play Therapy. Child Centered Play Therapy; Virginia Axline developed Carl Rogers' Person-Centered approach by adapting it to children. This method is applied to children between the ages of 2-12. In this non-directive method, the child; He organizes, changes, develops and heals his own world with the help of a therapist by carrying his negative mood or negative life experiences, anxiety and fears to the play room in order to completely control himself. Child-Centered Play Therapy has been found to be effective in the following situations and in healing many problems.
