Dear Mothers and Fathers;
It is important for our children to gain self-confidence throughout their developmental periods, to fulfill their age-appropriate responsibilities and to form positive behaviors; Thus, becoming self-sufficient, self-confident and happy individuals is one of the most important goals of parents. This goal actually starts from the early days of childhood and is built over time with the feelings of unconditional love, respect and unconditional acceptance established between parent and child.
Things to consider when communicating with children
Being a good enough parent does not mean strictly applying the information written in books. The important thing is to take into account the individual characteristics of the child and to be able to communicate with the child. However, regardless of your child's temperament, communication is the most basic structure you will establish.
Nurturing the Feeling of Trust
Children have emotional needs as well as basic needs from the first years of their lives. Recognizing and meeting these needs in a timely manner helps create a basic sense of trust. The feeling of confidence and courage given to the child in lifelong development will help the child be open to new experiences and increase his sense of curiosity.
Adaptation to Social Life
Your child will face many problems in his social environment as well as in his family. A child who has no problems in the home environment; The child may face great difficulties in the first social environment he enters, and this may worry the child. New generation parents are raising their children with an overprotective attitude. The reason for this is to protect their children from possible mistakes and dangers. However, this attitude prevents children from being able to face any situation and not being left alone in any conflict environment. Although it sounds nice when explained this way, no one wants their child to be harmed, but it is the most basic behavior that harms the child rather than protecting it. The child turns into an individual who does not know how to defend himself.
As parents, we believe that your child should be strong in his/her friendships, social environments, university studies, business life, in short, in the face of life. If you want him to have a character, informing him about how to behave in the face of problem situations and helping him find solutions to all the responsibilities and problems he can handle will be the greatest support.
Leave your child alone in the face of the problem. A child faced with a problem begins to look for different solutions to solve the problem. It is the first step in developing the child's problem-solving skills.
It is of great importance to take into account the characteristics of your child's age and to ensure that parents do not intervene in the process unless necessary. A person is as strong as his problem solving skills. Even though your child may encounter many difficulties in their developmental journey, they can complete the journey in a healthy way with the correct guidance, suggestions and unconditional love of their parents.
I wish you not to forget the value of communication and the importance of love, respect and compassion. Best regards
